Each Student begins with a computer adaptive diagnostic assessment.
•Each assessment is aligned to State Academic Standards.
•Skill/learning gaps are identified and an individual instructional program is designed.
•Instruction or intervention occurs based on Individual Learning Plan for each student.
•Parent and Schools receive Progress Reports for each student.
•Student is post-tested to determine level of progress made during tutoring.

                                                 Research Based Programs

In order to accelerate the learning process, ESS uses a combination of computer-aided instruction and pencil-paper exercises.  All curricula used are nationally recognized, state-aligned, research based programs that have documented success in helping students progress academically.  The major programs used in tutoring, which are all web-based, are the Scantron Performance Series, PassKey by McGraw Hill and Smart Tutor by Learning Today Scantron Performance Series offers both, a computer-adaptive program that dynamically adjusts to each student's instructional level and pencil-paper resources to help students master failed skills.  It provides a clear understanding of students' performance across a range of subjects and without being limited to a particular grade level, pinpoints the specific learning need/gap of each student.  Scantron Performance Series is used as a diagnostic tool to pre- and post-test students and measure gains they have made in the program.  Additionally, it provides pencil and paper resources to assist students in learning to master skills they have failed and concepts they have not grasped.

PassKey by McGraw Hill offers a computer-based, prescriptive learning system which means that each lesson is skill-specific, focusing precisely on what students need to learn, and building on what they already know.  Passkey's unique lesson structure includes a Pre-test which determines the student's learning needs and prescribes which lessons are needed to meet criteria for mastery;  Tutorials that easily guide students step by step through the interactive teaching sequence; Guided Practice which provides feedback for both wrong and right answers; and Post-Test that confirms the student has mastered or not mastered the skill tested.  Skills not mastered are re-assigned and re-taught.  To further delineate student's needs, Passkey's built-in diagnostics and correlations to State standards and tests makes it easy for teachers to identify skill defiienceis in any or all of the subject areas and easy for teachers to assign the exact lessons students need for optimum test and classroom performance.

Smart Tutor by Learning Today is a research-based, diagnostic program designed to help students build critical elementary level reading and math skills.  It provides placement assessment, individualized instruction, on-demand reporting, and is aligned to national and state standards.  The reading curriculum covers critical skills in reading including phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary and reading comprehension.  The math curriculu integrates number and operations, measurement, geometry, algebra and problem solving skills with engaging real-world themes.  Adaptive placement assessment, individualized instruction and comprehensive reporting is provided through Interactive instruction and targeted intervention.  All three programs provide an excellent array of reports to inform teachers and parents of the student's progress.

                                              program successes!!

Education Support Systems, Inc. has experienced great success this year in tutoring.  In Miami, all students with the exception on one, excelled and all students either met or exceeded each goal that was set for them based on their pre-test scores.  In Chattanooga, after taking the post test, every student showed an increase of a minimum of 1 grade level and a maximum of 5 based on Scantron Performance Series. The student participation increased by 100% because other students wanted to experience the same academic growth.   One Hispanic student increased 3 grade levels from his initial pre-test assessment, another student stated he never realized he was so behind and decided to step it up by performing 4 grade levels above his initial assessment.  And an African American student, through her hard work and dedication, escalated her post-test to 5 levels above her initial assessment. In Memphis, students in three groups, mastered skills and exceeded their pre-test scores during post-testing and students in a 4th group passed the State Gateway test.
